Testing times for the UK economy

I’m still out of the markets, which is a good thing because they don’t seem to be reacting the way I would have predicted. With the current UK economic worries I would have expected the FTSE to be falling, however is seems to be doing well.
There has been much in the news lately surrounding the soaring food and fuel prices. I would have expected this, coupled with the struggling property market to have had an adverse effect on the markets.
Ah well, I guess all this goes to show that I’m no expert and its just as well I’m of the markets! (for now).

I ‘m sure I did the right thing, I sold all my holdings just before the start of 2008 and since then the markets have been very grim. Have I any regrets? You bet I sold a chunk of gold at the start of a massive upward curve!
However, I remember when I sold that gold, I was SO relieved, I actually made some profit after looking at a big loss. So, yes, I am kicking myself but I also fully understand why I sold when I did.
Other regrets? Well, yes, I wish I’d shorted the FTSE when I was so sure it was going down J.
Overall, I’m so relieved I “went flat” when I did, I could be looking at heavy losses if I’d stayed in the markets. At the moment I’m looking for a window to get back onboard, but I just can’t see it at the moment.
Share dealing is way down my list at the moment; the house price drop is my main concern as I’m trying to sell my home.
Game Over!

Sorry for the long delay but today seemed like a good time to conclude this project. The markets are in turmoil again and the feds have slashed the interest rates.
Luckily for me, I’d already taken as much hammering I could from the markets late last year and I bailed for the final time. I closed my accounts and withdrew my funds.
Since I began my venture into the markets I had made a small profit, but I’d certainly had to earn it. Will I be back? Maybe
